Your Go To PvE Guide for Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos-Global

Welcome Trainers! It is Time! Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos-Global is upon us. We are going back in time to Gen 6 and Pokémon X & Y days, a time when some serious new fan favorites dropped along with the very first and probably the best “gimmick” in Pokémon franchise: Mega Evolution. So which Pokémon should Trainers look to grind in this 2-day event from PvE perspective, let’s find out!

Wild Spawns
General icon

Let us start with the the event-themed Pokémon that are featured in the wild. While Generation 6 added the least number of new Pokémon among all the generations, there are still plenty of Pokémon that can be a worthwhile addition to your respective PvE teams, not to forget that some of those old evergreen spawns are featured as well. The spawns are distributed in three unique habitats: Central Village, Mountain Manor and Coastal Laboratory.

Pidgey → Pidgeot → Mega Pidgeot

Mega Pidgeot

NormalFlying

Max CP 4160
ATK 280
DEF 175
HP 195

Mega Pidgeot unleashes devastating Flying type pressure via Gust into Brave Bird, shredding Fighting, Grass and Bug bosses with relentless aerial assaults. Have a look at Top Flying Attackers:

As we can see, Mega Pidgeot currently occupies #9 position. Yes, Mega Rayquaza leads the way with a very dominant performance, but Mega Pidgeot has more accessibility, and is perfect for Trainers looking for an accessible yet a strong attacker. Fans of the OG anime will remember: Pidgey is a perfect Pokémon for new and upcoming Trainers. Stays true here as well!

Mega Gardevoir

PsychicFairy

Max CP 5101
ATK 326
DEF 229
HP 169

Gardevoir excels as a Fairy attacker using Charm and Dazzling Gleam, providing energy-efficient bursts against Dragon and Fighting types. Shadow Gardevoir intensifies Fairy output, making it a shadowy menace.

Mega Gardevoir reigns as the absolute best among Top Fairy Attackers, dismantling raid bosses with overwhelming force and team-wide Fairy empowerment—its elegance shines in prolonged raids. It can double up as a Psychic raid attacker as well.

PsychicFighting

Max CP 5112

DEF 230

Gallade has exactly the same stats as Gardevoir but trades its Fairy typing to Fighting. But, unlike Gardevoir, Gallade by itself struggles a bit in the PvE meta. Mega Gallade on the other hand is a different story altogether, going a notch above Mega Gardevoir, among Top Psychic attackers.

Both Ralts’ evolutions are top PvE contenders and the event is perfect for grinding those Ralts XL candies and hunt for that high IV one. Remember that only male Kirlia evolves into Gallade.

Chesnaught

GrassFighting

Max CP 3340
ATK 201
DEF 204

Regular Chesnaught brings tank-like Grass prowess through Vine Whip and Frenzy Plant, while also having a higher TDO than other Grass attackers, hence, enduring longer in raids. Its high bulk makes it a steady anchor for teams lacking bulk. Shadow Chesnaught injects shadow ferocity, striking a sweet spot between offense and resilience, making its way among the upper ranks of Top Grass Attackers.

Chesnaught also got a Mega Evolution in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Trainers can use this event to get some Chespin XL candies and a high IV Chespin so that they can be ready when Mega Chesnaught is released in Pokémon GO.

Bug types usually don’t have a lot of play in PvE scenarios. However, in certain niche scenarios, like during Hoopa Unbound elite raid or in the upcoming Mega Malamar Super Mega Raid, Bug attackers shine.

Both Shadow and Mega Scizor are among Top Bug Attackers in the game. Trainers may want to take this opportunity to catch some Scythers and be ready for Mega Malamar Super Mega Raids. Sadly, Scizor can’t replicate a similar performance as a Steel raid attacker.

Mega Absol

Dark

Max CP 3732
ATK 314
DEF 130

Mega Absol carves out Dark dominance with Snarl and Brutal Swing, excelling against Psychic and Ghost, while also providing mega boost to other Dark attackers as well, though its low TDO and Brutal Swing being a legacy move may cause Trainers to look at other Dark attackers. However, it still is a Top Dark Attacker and if you can invest in one, you definitely should.

Absol also got a new Mega Evolution in the Mega Dimensions DLC for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Trainers can use this event to get some Absol XL candies and a high IV Absol so that they can be ready if and when Mega Absol Z releases in Pokémon GO.

GrassFighting

Max CP 3459

DEF 189
HP 181

Delphox deploys Fire Spin and Blast Burn for Fire utility, handling Bug, Ice, Grass and Steel types effectively. Shadow Delphox escalates this fire aggression, shining at #7 among Top Fire Attackers.

As we can see, Shadow Delphox is a pretty strong budget attacker, the best non mega non legendary Fire attacker in the game. Delphox also got a Mega Evolution in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Trainers can use this event to get some Fennekin XL candies and a high IV Fennekin so that they can be ready when Mega Delphox releases in Pokémon GO.

Everyone’s favorite Greninja is up next. It blends a combination of Water Shuriken and Hydro Cannon to shred Fire, Ground and Rock raid bosses. Shadow Greninja amplifies this edge serving as a cost effective Top Water Attacker.

Greninja also got a Mega Evolution in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Trainers can use this event to get some Froakie XL candies and a high IV Froakie so that they can be ready when Mega Greninja debuts in Pokémon GO.

Fairy

Max CP 4275
ATK 250
DEF 185
HP 246

Xerneas, the majestic Life Pokémon from Kalos, flaunts a hefty max CP and balanced stats with strong Attack and solid HP that make it a promising Fairy contender right out of the gate. Equip your Xerneas with Geomancy and Moonblast, this combo generates impressive DPS.

Xerneas cements itself as a must-farm Fairy staple for any raid squad, especially during events with shiny potential, making it a smart grab for groups tackling Dragon or Fighting raid bosses.

Sprite of Yveltal from Pokémon GO

Yveltal

DarkFlying

Max CP 4275
ATK 250
DEF 185
HP 246

Yveltal, the terrifying Destruction Pokémon from Kalos, flaunts exactly same stats of its counterpart Xerneas. However, it is a Dark Flying type, which means it can potentially perform a dual role. However, as a Dark raid attacker, Yveltal is average, lagging behind the likes of regular Tyranitar, Hydreigon and even Shadow Absol. But as a Flying raid attacker it shines, occupying a pretty high #7 position, thanks to its signature move Oblivion Wing.

Both Xerneas and Yveltal are strong PvE Pokémon and certainly worth investing your raid passes into. For a detailed meta analysis of Xerneas and Yveltal, here is a piece written by MeteorAsh15: Xerneas & Yveltal: Meta Analysis of Kalos Tour’s Headliners.

Super Mega Raids
General icon

We have new type of raids for the upcoming Kalos Global Tour: Super Mega Raids. We already have detailed meta guides for the Pokémon featured in these Super Mega Raids: Mega Victreebel, Mega Malamar and Mega Dragonite. Let’s just take a quick look.

Mega Victreebel

Sprite of Mega Victreebel from Pokémon GO

Mega Victreebel

GrassPoison

Max CP 3963
ATK 265
DEF 181
HP 190

Mega Victreebel is overall a pretty relevant PvE Pokémon currently occupying #10 position among Top Grass Attackers in the game. It however, does need access to a legacy move in Magical Leaf. Trainers, can instead run Mega Victreebel with Razor Leaf as its Fast Attack. In such a scenario, the same Mega Victreebel can double up as a Poison raid attacker as well, where it performs even better, occupying #7 position among Top Poison Attackers.

Raid Guide: Mega Victreebel.

Mega Malamar

Mega Malamar

DarkPsychic

Max CP 3554
ATK 208
DEF 222
HP 200

As we can see, Mega Malamar leans on the side of bulk with a high 222 Defense stat. But, the low Attack stat of Mega Malamar hampers its PvE performance, and sadly it struggles both as a Psychic and as a Dark raid attacker, both fields already having some serious heavy-hitters. Of the three Super Mega Raid Pokémon featured, Mega Malamar is certianly the most forgettable when it comes to meta relevance.

And lastly, we have the mega evolution of the OG pseudo-legendary: Dragonite. Well thet stats are solid, but unfortunately for Mega Dragonite, it is competing with some of the best Pokémon that we have ever come across in our great game. It still manages to slide into the Top Dragon Attackers, right at #10. As a Flying raid attacker… the less said that better!

While all the attention will likely be on these new Super Mega Raids, there are also other Pokémon that are featured in Mega Raids. Except for Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Latias, all other featured Mega Evolutions, are PvE relevant and make it into the top 10 in their respective rankings. Trainers, that are missing some of these Mega Evolutions have an opportunity to add them to their respective teams.

Eggs
General icon

There are some PvE relevant Pokémon that will be hatching from eggs.

  • In 2km eggs we have a set a pseudo-legendary Pokémon: Larvitar, Bagon, Beldum and Gible. They were also recently featured in the Road to Kalos event and their PvE analysis can be found here— PvE Analysis for Road to Kalos Event.
  • In 5km eggs we have a set of Flabébé. Its evolution, Florges isn’t PvE relevant, but is certainly PvP relevant.
  • In 10km eggs we have a set of regionals: Kangaskhan, Heracross, Hawlucha and Klefki. You certainly want a Mega Heracross in your team as it is #1 Bug attacker and #5 Fighting attacker. Hawlucha also got a new Mega Evolution in Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Trainers can look to hatch a high IV and potentially a shiny Hawlucha so that they can be ready if and when Mega Hawlucha releases in Pokémon GO.

The Jewel Pokémon: Diancie

Finally, we are into the last section and arguably the most important section of our analysis. Have a look at the above stats and see the difference between Diancie and Mega Diancie. This difference is so massive that it takes Diancie, which is currently at #91 as a Fairy raid attacker to #18 as Mega Diancie. Not really impressed! Wait! As a Rock raid attacker Diancie goes from #73 all the way to…..#1

Trainers! If you have purchased the ticket, pray that you get a high IV Shiny Diancie, power it up and flex it in those raids.

Trainers, as the habitats rotate through Central Village, Mountain Manor, and Coastal Laboratory from February 28 to March 1, make every spin and raid count—prioritize XL candy farming for those wild spawns and Five-Star raids.

Don’t sleep on Diancie; that Mega form catapults it to #1 Rock attacker status, turning rocky bosses into dust. Grab your ticket for that shiny Diancie shot, team up for Super Mega Raids, and let’s make this Gen 6 throwback your strongest raid squad upgrade yet—happy hunting, and may your IVs be hundos!

Tell us Trainers! Have you purchased Global Tour Kalos Ticket? Are you excited about Super Mega Raids? Which Gen 6 Pokémon is your favorite? And as always, stay safe! Happy raiding, may everyone have a great event!
