Pokémon Wind and Wave Allegedly Leaked in TeraLeak 2

Trainers, a massive new leak called Teraleak 2 has surfaced online, allegedly revealing early details about Pokémon Generation 10, internally codenamed Gaia. The upcoming mainline titles — Pokémon Wind and Pokémon Wave — are said to be in active development with an estimated production cost of $20 million, and are targeting an early winter 2026 release.

While information could change before the official reveal, Centro LEAKS, a popular social media account on X that has a verified background with accurate leaks, suggests that both the names and thematic direction of the games are already well established.

Pokémon Wind and Wave are reportedly Game Freak’s most expensive project to date, with a budget of 3 billion yen (around $20 million USD). For comparison, here are the budgets for other Pokémon games:

  • Scarlet & Violet DLC: 500 million yen
  • Pokémon Legends: Z-A: 2 billion yen
  • Pokémon Wind & Wave: 3 billion yen

With that being said, here’s a small part of what was shared about the upcoming Generation 10 titles. Again, all of this information is leaked information, and thus subject to change.

Setting and themes

Contrary to earlier rumors, Pokémon Wind and Pokémon Wave are allegedly set in Southeast Asia, with Indonesia serving as the main inspiration. The region will feature dense jungles, coral reefs, and island chains, with both surface and underwater exploration forming a key part of gameplay.

Game Freak is said to be focusing on infinity, survival, and generational change as the main narrative and gameplay themes. Players will explore a procedurally generated archipelago, meaning each playthrough will feature different island layouts, weather patterns, and Pokémon habitats.

Pokémon Wind and Wave aim to explore the jungle biome in greater depth than ever before. Survival mechanics will reportedly be part of the experience, with players needing to adapt to natural hazards and use Pokémon abilities to navigate the wild.

With Pokémon Wind and Waves Game Freak wants to tackle the jungle environment which really hasn’t been fully seen before in Pokémon games.

New graphics engine and new features

A new graphics engine, internally called Pokémon Engine X, powers the game and represents a major step forward for the series’ visuals and world systems. It allows for detailed Wave generation and underwater exploration!

Early look at the new Pokémon Wind / Wave graphics engine.

Reminder: we will be able to explore underwater. https://t.co/WAGS8nCllv

The following are allegedly confirmed features from the development documents, aka the core features that will be part of this game:

Japanese Term English Feature Description
ジムアドベンチャー Gym Adventure 18 Gyms, one for each type, open order
天候技取得クエ Weather Move Quest Quests to unlock special weather-based attacks
ライド免許クエ Ride License Quest Unlocks for rideable Pokémon
mmoレイド戦 MMO Raid Battle Large-scale online battles
ポケモンレスキュー Pokémon Rescue Missions to save Pokémon in the wild
ヌシ Boss Pokémon Successor to Totem/Titan Pokémon
ポケサバイバル Pokémon Survival New survival gameplay system
ダイビング Diving Full underwater exploration

The leaks also suggest that you will be able to touch and ride almost any Pokémon in the game. Unfortunately, we don’t know more about this feature, as it was mentioned in a planning document dated 5 years ago according to the leaks. Regardless, two videos of the petting mechanic and riding mechanic have surfaced.

A new Pokémon species, known as the Seed Pokémon, plays a central role in the story. Trainers begin their journey with this unevolved “baby form,” which can evolve only after traveling to the island where that version’s Legendary Pokémon resides.

The Seed Pokémon’s evolution is said to be procedurally generated, resulting in unique visual patterns and colors for every player. How the Pokémon is raised also affects how new islands are generated, making it a core part of the world’s progression system.

Legends for gamers, mainline for everyone

Players will start their adventure in a resort hotel that serves as an MMO-style hub. This area allows interaction with other players, access to quest boards, and participation in online events and MMO raid battles. The feature is designed to make online play a seamless part of the main game world. Wild if true!

According to Game Freak, they intend to mix Open World + MMO with Gen 10 https://t.co/LnS4nTpMLM

Curiously, the leaks also suggest that Gamefreak is intentionally making the mainline games appeal to a wider audience, with the Legends series focusing on the more hardcore gamer audience.

This sounds plausible to us, as mainline generational games are always about the Pokémon, rather than niche mechanics and experimentation.

There are many, many other details about these online – like character design, final boss and full story lines – but we decided not to share any of that here to avoid heavy spoilers. After all, you can always find it yourself.

Parting words

If TeraLeak 2 turns out to be true, it paints a clear picture of Game Freak’s growing ambition: moving from static regions to living, evolving worlds.

Whether all of these ideas make it into the final release or not, Pokémon Wind and Pokémon Wave  appear to embody a new philosophy for the series, one focused on exploration, discovery, and endless variation.

We can’t feel anything but excitement after seeing the leaks, but we do feel sorry for Gamefreak at this point. We hope that the company tightens its security measures, and continues to innovate the franchise.
