Dynamax Ho-Oh Max Battle Day takes place from Saturday, January 31, at 6:00 a.m. to Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. local time
During the event, all Power Spots will host Dynamax Battles, and Power Spots will refresh more frequently. If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny Ho-Oh capable of Dynamaxing.

The following Pokémon will make its Pokémon GO Dynamax debut in five-star Max Battles during the event:
Dynamax Ho-Oh is a Fire and type Pokémon, so your best attacking options will be Rock, Water and Electric type Pokémon.

Trainers can collect Max Particles via the Nearby menu each day by exploring. Adventure Sync can help make sure your distance counts! Keep an eye on the Nearby menu for the icon that shows when Max Particles are ready to collect.

There will be a free Timed Research opportunity available to Trainers starting Monday, January 26, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. local time.
Complete the Timed Research to encounter a Dynamax Kabuto to help build your battle team ready for taking on Dynamax Ho-Oh.
The Timed Research tasks will also award rhe following:

Please note that Timed Research expires. The tasks associated with this Free Timed Research must be completed and their rewards must be claimed before Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. local time.
Event Ticket
For US$4.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access event-exclusive Timed Research. Timed Research rewards include the following.

The Dynamax Ho-Oh Max Battle Weekend Ultra Ticket Box will be available for US$4.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency) and includes an event ticket and a bonus Premium Battle Pass.
Max Mushrooms
The Max Mushroom is an item that temporarily amplifies the Fast Attacks, Charged Attacks, and Max Move attacks of your Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon in Max Battles. While active in a Max Battle, your attacks will do double damage until the item timer runs out. Using multiple Max Mushrooms consecutively will lengthen the duration of the effect, but it will not increase the damage multiplier.
Remember to check your Item Bag while in a Max Battle lobby and use any Max Mushrooms you’ve acquired. You can also see whether other Trainers in the lobby have Max Mushrooms active.
Campfire
Campfire makes it easier than ever to find both Max Battles and other Trainers to help you take them on. View nearby Max Battle and Flare activity within Pokémon GO by tapping the green icon under the compass in the top right of the map view, and check out meetups online on the Campfire Map!
