Pokémon Champions Mobile Release Date Announced Along With The Debut Of Mega Raichu

Good day, Pokémon trainers! If you’ve kept any track on recent VGC or Pokémon news at all, you might have already heard of Pokémon Champions, the game released earlier this year on the Nintendo Switch lineup of consoles. It’s a PvP-focused game, taking the turn-based battles of the mainline series and making competing with other trainers in thrilling battles the main focus. Initially, it was announced to be released on iOS and Android as well. But the smartphone port wasn’t given a release date.

Well that announcement is finally here and the release date is just around the corner. In fact, trainers eager to test their mettle against other trainers on their mobile devices very long at all, as the game is coming out in less than 2 weeks! Not only that, you can carry over your switch data from either the Nintendo Switch 1 or Nintendo Switch 2 by linking the same Nintendo account. The game will be available via the Apple App Store and Google Play on iOS and Android devices respectively.

Not only that, to celebrate the release of the game on mobile platforms, Mega Raichu will be debuting on the game and trainers can claim a free Raichu, Raichunite X, and Raichunite Y by playing the game between Wednesday, June 17, 2026, to Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 6:49 p.m. PDT, and checking their in-game mailbox.

About Mega Raichu
General icon

Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y are the Mega Evolved forms of the Electric-type Pokémon, Raichu. Which itself is the evolved form of the beloved mascot of the entire Pokémon franchise, Pikachu. They made their debut on the console game Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s first and (so far) only expansion DLC, “Mega Dimensions”. Mega Raichu X and Y are both unique variants of Raichu, much like how Charizard and Mewtwo have two unique mega variants.

Also rather excitingly, as Pokémon Legends: Z-A did not have abilities, a stable of the mainline games, many have been eagerly speculating what their ability might be when they eventually make their appearance on other games. Now with their debut in Pokémon Champions we finally have an answer, Mega Raichu X will have the Electric Surge Ability and Mega Raichu Y will have the No Guard Ability.
