The Best Pokémon to look out for at GO Tour Kalos: Global

Good day, Pokémon Trainers! Pokémon GO Tour will be going global soon this year! This time it’s focused in on Pokémon from Kalos. Which brings up the ever-popular question,

What are the best Pokémon to catch?

Well, not to worry fellow trainer, I’m here to help narrow the field! But before we get to that it’s worth noting that this guide only accounts for those that we know for sure will be available during the Global GO Tour period according to the information shared by Niantic.

With that out of the way, Which Pokémon are truly worth getting?

Let’s begin and find out!

Wild Pokémon
General icon

Wild Pokémon available during the event will be seperated via habitats. Habitats rotate each hour and each habitat will have unique Pokémon available in them. From 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time Pokémon from every habitat will be available. For now, let’s look at the worthwhile Pokémon to catch based on region:

Central Village
General icon

The following Pokémon are cozying up at the central village from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. local time:

Bulbasaur

Artwork of Bulbasaur from Pokémon GO

Bulbasaur

Kanto’s Grass-starter Bulbasaur, eventually evolves to Venusaur, which is a solid Grass and Poison-type raid attacker. And while it doesn’t typically dominate in any PvP leagues it finds play in many limited metas. Not only that, you could catch Bulbasaurs to collect candy if you’re trying to build up a Mega Venusaur as well. Just remember, as with most Grass starters, Venusaur truly excels when it has the legacy move, Frenzy Plant.

Treecko

Artwork of Treecko from Pokémon GO

Treecko

Going from one starter to another, Treecko is the Grass starter from Hoenn and is a fairly solid Grass-type raid attacker with Frenzy Plant. It does not however, perform particularly well in PvP. It also has a Mega form which is arguably the best Grass-type raid attacker right now so you could catch Treeckos to collect candies for it.

Chespin

Artwork of Chespin from Pokémon GO

Chespin

Finishing off the Grass-type starters from this habitat, Chespin eventually evolves into Chesnaught. It’s a Grass and Fighting type Pokémon and is a fantastic choice as a Grass-type raid attacker. In fact, Shadow Chesnaught is one of the best Grass-type raid attackers in general, but even if the shadow variant won’t be available in the event, the regular one is quite solid as well.

On the other end, Chesnaught isn’t too great for PvP but it can still be a fun spice/limited meta pick. Worth noting that with most Grass-starters, you want the legacy move Frenzy Plant to truly make use of Chesnaught.

Ralts

Artwork of Ralts from Pokémon GO

Ralts

A fan favorite, Ralts has two distinct final evolutions: Gardevoir and Gallade. Both of these have mega evolutions which will be available during GO Fest and are fantastic raid attackers. Mega Gardevoir is great as a Psychic and Fairy type, whereas Mega Gallade is great as a Psychic and Fighting type. But even the non-megas of these Pokémon can be decent as raid attackers.

Other than that, Gallade and Gardevoir often see play in more limited PvP metas such as the Psychic Cup and Master League Premier formats.

Bunnelby

Artwork of Bunnelby from Pokémon GO

Bunnelby

Bunnelby’s evolution Diggersby generally performs well in the Great League PvP format. It has immense bulk, and fast attacks that can generate energy quickly. It’s also a Normal/Ground type which makes it really solid defensively in general.

Fletchling

Artwork of Fletchling from Pokémon GO

Fletchling

Fletchling is unique in that it starts off as a Normal/Flying-type and eventually evolves into the Fire/Flying Talonflame. Talonflame also happens to be one of the best Pokémon currently in the Great League thanks to how much damage it can do with its combination of fast and charged attacks. It can be decent in the Ultra League as well.

Skiddo

Artwork of Skiddo from Pokémon GO

Skiddo

Skiddo and its evolution Gogoat don’t do anything exceptionally well but it’s a decently rare Pokémon and can be used as a Grass-type raid attack or a Great League/Ultra League spice pick.

Mountain Manor
General icon

These are the Pokémon you can expect to find if you dare to brave the Mountain Manor from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. local time:

Charmander

Artwork of Charmander from Pokémon GO

Charmander

Charmander’s ever popular evolution Charizard in its many forms tend to be solid Fire, Dragon, and Flying-type raid attackers. Not only that, while nowadays Talonflame outperforms Charizard in PvP it can still have uses, especially in the Master Premier League.

Scyther

Artwork of Scyther from Pokémon GO

Scyther

Scyther’s evolution Scizor is a Bug and Steel type that performs exceptionally well in the Great and Ultra Leagues (though its shadow variant performs a bit better). Other than that, both Scyther and Scizor can be solid Bug-type raid attackers. And Scizor has a mega form which works well as a Steel-type raid attacker as well.

Torchic

Artwork of Torchic from Pokémon GO

Torchic

The Fire starter from Hoenn, Torchic evolves into Blaziken which is a strong Fighting and Fire-type raid attackers. Mega Blaziken, on the other hand, is the best of the best among raid attackers.

Absol

Artwork of Absol from Pokémon GO

Absol

With the legacy move Brutal Swing, Absol is a strong Dark-type raid attacker. It also has a Mega form, which is an even better raid attacker.

Fennekin

Artwork of Fennekin from Pokémon GO

Fennekin

We finally reach the Fire starter from Kalos, Fennekin. Its evolution Delphox is a solid choice as a Fire-type raid attacker with the legacy move, Blast Burn. It also sees some play in the Master League Premier format.

Carbink

Artwork of Carbink from Pokémon GO

Carbink

Carbink is a personal favorite of mine. It is very bulky in the Great League and can deal consistent damage as well. However, it is overshadowed by other bulky Pokémon such as Bastiodon.

Phantump and Pumpkaboo

  • Artwork of Phantump from Pokémon GO

    Phantump

  • Artwork of Pumpkaboo from Pokémon GO

    Pumpkaboo

Phantump and Pumpkaboo are similar in that their evolutions, Trevenant and Gourgeist are both Ghost/Grass-types that are solid for the Ultra League. For Gourgeist, you want the largest one referred to as “Super”.

Coastal Laboratory
General icon

The Coastal Laboratory is home to many marine Pokémon, along with alien or ancient ones from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Such as:

Squirtle

Artwork of Squirtle from Pokémon GO

Squirtle

Kanto’s beloved Water starter Squirtle, and its evolution Blastoise, might seem unassuming at first. However, Blastoise is actually fantastic for the Great and Ultra Leagues. Blastoise’s mega and shadow forms are also solid Water-type raid attackers.

Mudkip

Artwork of Mudkip from Pokémon GO

Mudkip

Mudkip is the Water-starter from Hoenn, which evolves into the Water and Ground-type Swampert. Swampert was once a menace in PvP, but nowadays its best use case is as a Water-type raid attacker. It’s mega and shadow forms can also be solid Ground-type raid attackers.

Froakie

Artwork of Froakie from Pokémon GO

Froakie

The last Water-type starter, Froakie is the Water-type starter from Kalos, and eventually evolves into the Water/Dark-type Greninja. Greninja is a very attack-focused Pokémon which makes it a fantastic Water-type raid attacker. Other than that, it can be an interesting spice-pick in the Great and Ultra Leagues as well, where it can deal damage really quickly but can also faint really quickly as well. Though, with any Water-type starters, you want the legacy move Hydro Cannon to truly make use of Greninja.

Inkay

Artwork of Inkay from Pokémon GO

Inkay

Inkay and its evolution Malamar, have the unique type combination of Dark and Psychic. This makes it rather unique as it leaves it with just 2 weaknesses in Bug and Fairy. Not only that, it has a fantastic move combination of Psywave, Superpower, and Foul Play always keeps opponents guessing. This makes Malamar a fantastic choice for the Great and Ultra Leagues.

Clauncher

Artwork of Clauncher from Pokémon GO

Clauncher

Clawitzer, Clauncher’s evolution is a solid Water-type raid attacker. It also doesn’t need any legacy moves to be a good raid attacker.

Skrelp

Artwork of Skrelp from Pokémon GO

Skrelp

Skrelp’s evolution Dragalge can be a solid choice for the Great League and the Ultra League. Not only that, Skrelp itself can perform well in certain limited Little Cup metas.

Tyrunt & Aurorus

  • Artwork of Tyrunt from Pokémon GO

    Tyrunt

  • Artwork of Aurorus from Pokémon GO

    Aurorus

The members of the Fossil Pokémon duo from Kalos both have their uses. Starting with Tyrunt, its evolution Tyrantrum is a fantastic Rock-type raid attacker, and can be half-decent Dragon-type raid attacker as well.

On the other hand, Aurorus can be a solid pick for PvP in the Great League and the Ultra League, though you have to be careful about the fact that Aurorus has a whole bunch of weaknesses.

Goomy

Artwork of Goomy from Pokémon GO

Goomy

Goomy’s final evolution Goodra is extremely bulky and benefits from having a variety of charged attacks. This makes it a solid choice for the Ultra League and the Master League. However, it doesn’t do particularly well in the Great League.

All Habitats
General icon

These Pokémon can be found in every habitat:

Eevee

Artwork of Eevee from Pokémon GO

Eevee

Eevee is a Pokémon with many evolutions, so it has many uses as well. To start off, Sylveon, Espeon, Glaceon, and Jolteon are all solid raid attackers in their own type categories. Leafeon and Flareon can be half decent as raid attackers as well.

As for PvP, Sylveon can be solid for the Master League, and the Master League Premier formats. On the other hand, Umbreon can sometimes be good in the Great League thanks to its immense bulk.

Flabébé

Artwork of Flabébé from Pokémon GO

Flabébé

This Pokémon can be caught while following routes during GO Tour. Flabébé’s final evolution Florges is fantastic. With its legacy move Chilling Water, Florges is strong in all three of the main PvP formats, with its best performance being in Ultra League. It’s also a decent raid attacker even without Chilling Water.

Unown

These Unown will be available to catch as incense encounters during GO Tour: Kalos. If you’ve taken the daunting task of catching every shiny Unown, you don’t want to miss these!

Eggs

There will be Pokémon that you can get by hatching eggs in the event, with boosted shiny chances for 2km and 10km eggs. All of them have some uses which are highlighted below:

2 KM Eggs

  • Artwork of Beldum from Pokémon GO

    Beldum

  • Artwork of Gible from Pokémon GO

    Gible

All four of these Pokémon play a similar role. Their evolutions perform well in the Master League and are all good raid attackers in their own type category. Beldum is a particular standout as it does well as both a Steel and a Psychic-type raid attacker as well as being really good in the Master League.

5 KM Eggs

Flabébé’s many uses have already been discussed. But if collecting is more your thing, hatching eggs would be the primary way to get Flabébés of every color.

10 KM Eggs

All four of these Pokémon are typically available only in select real-life locations. So, once again, these make fantastic collections if you don’t already have them.

These will be the unique costumed Pikachu for this event. You can get them in 1-Star Raids. If you’re trying to collect all the costumed Pikachs, or even all the SHINY costumed Pikachu, you definitely want to get these two.

Honedge on the other hand, is a relatively new Pokémon in GO and will have its shiny debut during GO Tour.

5-Star Raids

  • Artwork of Yveltal from Pokémon GO

    Yveltal

Both of these legendaries perform exceptionally well in the Master League. Not only that, they are both excellent raid attackers, Yveltal as a Dark and Flying-type, and Xerneas as a Fairy-type.

  • Artwork of Mega Malamar from Pokémon GO

    Mega Malamar

While Mega Pokémon typically cannot be used for PvP, they tend to be good raid attackers. Which is true for all of the Mega Pokémon listed here. All of them are fantastic in their type categories, and will be rotating on an hourly basis.

Mega Victreebell and Malamar will likely be the focus for many people during the event as they are completely new megas, they will very likely be solid raid attackers as well.
